What Happens With Your Information

Here’s a plain-language explanation of what we collect when you sign the letter, and what we do with it.

What we collect

• Your full name (required)
• Your office or organization, if you choose to share it (optional)
• Whether you’d like your name shown publicly on this site
• The date and time you signed, and your IP address — this is just to prevent spam and duplicate submissions, not to track you

Why we collect it

Your name and office help us compile the letter to deliver to the Washington State Office of Public Defense, so they can see who in the public defense community supports keeping WAP open. If you opt in, your name is also shown on the List of Signatories once the letter has reached a certain number of signatures, as a public show of support.

How it’s protected

Your name, office, and IP address are encrypted before they’re stored. They aren’t kept as plain, readable text in our database.

Who sees it

Only the people organizing this campaign can access the full signer list, and only to prepare the letter for delivery. If you choose to make your signature public, just your name — not your office or IP address — appears on this site once a certain number of signatures have been collected.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell your information, share it with third parties for marketing, or use it for anything beyond this campaign.
